Phi Upsilon Omicron, a national honor society in family and consumer sciences, offers scholarships, fellowships and awards only to Phi Upsilon Omicron Members.

Collegiate Awards

Application Deadline: March 1, 2024!

Note: Graduating Seniors are eligible for all of the Phi U awards.

Janice Cory Bullock Award

will be awarded annually to a non-traditional Phi U student who desires to continue education in family and consumer sciences or a related area which will enable gainful employment. ($250 and up)

Sarah Thorniley Phillips Leadership Award

will be awarded annually to Phi U undergraduate members for outstanding leadership and participation in collegiate and community programs. ($250 and up)

Undergraduate Karen P. Goebel Conclave Award

(awarded in even-numbered years) (Deadline for applications is May 1, or until awarded) Applicant must submit an article detailing the planning and fundraising projects the individual has done to attend Conclave. This award (1 for $500) is available to Phi Upsilon Omicron members to be enrolled during the full academic year (2 semesters or 3 quarters remaining in school after Conclave).

Lynne White Scheider Award

will be awarded annually to a Phi U undergraduate member for demonstrated leadership and scholarship in the area of consumer affairs, personal finance, and/or family finance. ($250 and up)

Hazel Hatcher Award

will be awarded annually to a Phi U undergraduate member with preference given to a student who has overcome obstacles to their educational career. ($250 and up)

Shirley Noah Chase Award

will be awarded annually to a Phi U undergraduate with preference given to family and consumer sciences education majors. ($250 and up)

Undergraduate Student Research Paper Award

Undergraduate student members of Kappa Omicron Nu and Phi Upsilon Omicron are eligible to submit research papers for presentation at a national conference, traditionally during the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) Annual Conference. ($1,500)
